Finding balance with the PI collection

Short for “polished imperfect”, the PI collection is inspired by the balance that exists in nature, embracing organic curves and the beauty of solid wood.

Nature provides a soothing tranquillity, offering a refuge where one can discover harmony and inner peace. The PI Collection draws inspiration from the delicate balance found in the natural world, seamlessly blending the raw beauty of wood with minimal, Belgian design.

Alain van Havre was inspired by a walk in the woods. “I love my weekly immersions in the woods and on the coast. I believe it is essential for us humans to get back in touch with our natural environment and reconnect with our senses”, says the designer. “I like to embrace the imperfections of nature and incorporate them into my designs. I find it fascinating how species are in a constant evolution towards perfection. The organisms and shapes we see today, are the result of billions of years of evolution, redesigning and optimising. In each product, I try to obtain irregularities. What makes each piece unique and full of character.”

From occasional tables to dining tables, wall décor and accessories, each piece contributes to a calming space that evokes the serenity of nature.

A range of well-crafted tables

Occasional and dining tables serve as essential focal points in our living spaces, where we gather, connect, and create cherished memories. A NEW DINING CHAIR JOINS THE COLLECTION

The PI chair is a visual testimony to the beauty found in nature. The chair altogether has something of a tree shape, and Alain was looking for other natural shapes to complement this. The seat, Alain explains, is meant to look like polished stones, with evidence of slight erosion. The arms, similar to the feather of a blue jay, brings a fluidity and lightness to the piece.
